Marta Trojanowska and Tomasz Staniszewski have been awarded the St. Casimir Award, one of the most important distinctions granted in Radom for activities supporting the protection and promotion of the city’s cultural heritage. The award was presented during the final gala of Kaziki 2026 at the Resursa Obywatelska.

The distinction was granted to the two authors for their book “Marywil – Fire and Time. The Ceramic Heritage of Radom,” devoted to the history of Radom’s ceramics and to one of the city’s most important – and often forgotten – elements of its industrial heritage.

The St. Casimir Award is presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to promoting knowledge about the history of Radom and protecting its cultural heritage.

During the gala, Marta Trojanowska said that the award was “a beautiful culmination of more than a decade of work.” – I would like to thank above all my family – my husband, my mother and my child – for their understanding. I believe we still have much to do to commemorate the ceramic heritage of Radom – said the laureate. She also announced that she would use part of the prize to fund a commemorative plaque dedicated to a person who is important in her life. Further details will be announced at a later date.

Tomasz Staniszewski, in turn, emphasized that the distinction has a special meaning for him, as it is the first award he has received in Radom. While expressing his gratitude, he noted that he treats the award above all as a commitment to continue working for the history of the city. He also announced that he would donate his share of the prize to the Ślad Foundation, which supports research and initiatives related to the multicultural heritage of Radom.

The award was presented as part of the annual celebrations of the city’s patron saint, St. Casimir Jagiellon. The Kaziki celebrations are among the most important events in Radom, combining cultural, educational and sporting activities, including the Great Test of Knowledge about Radom and the traditional Kaziki Run.
