My studies in economics in Cracow, under the guidance of professors Leszek Kałkowski and Jacek Purchla, ignited my passion for the economic history of our country. For the first time, during lectures and seminars, I had the opportunity to encounter the tangible history of the former capital market, economic law, and the people associated with them. The desire to possess "fragments of old economic history" in the form of historical papers and documents quickly turned into a passion that continues to this day. I bought my first items for my collection with a small scholarship at Cracow's antique and flea markets. While still a student, I had the pleasure of meeting such well-known and outstanding collectors as Marek Sosenko, Ryszard Kowalczuk, and Tomasz Górniak. I remember with particular fondness the late Stanisław Mariański from Radom, who showed me the most kindness, gave me good advice, and helped me acquire a number of valuable items and memorabilia for my collections, despite my modest financial means at the time.
The largest and most interesting part of my collection is a set of historical securities. For over 30 years, it has been an expression of my interest primarily in joint-stock companies in interwar Poland and state treasury bonds.
As a native of Radom, coming from an old family of stonemasons with traditions dating back to 1900, I am particularly interested in the economic history of Radom and the Radom-Kielce region. Together with other history enthusiasts, I would like to preserve the history of companies, factories, and plants that no longer exist. Radom and the Radom region are full of history that is worth knowing and passing on to future generations.
The last part of my collection is related to my work. It is the trade in natural stone (more information at https://www.inbra.pl). Family traditions and a passion for stone led me to the sources of the old stone industry in our country. The history of stonemasonry in Poland is also largely unknown. I would like to at least partially discover it and share it with all those interested.
I'm looking forward to any tips, interesting clues, or words of encouragement.
Best regards,
Tomasz Staniszewski
My goals
I am only interested in historical papers as collectibles that document the economic history of Polish lands. The collections are and will be digitized and then gradually made available on this portal in the form of a virtual museum of securities and old company prints. Exhibitions, lectures, and academic publications will further complement the educational mission of my collections.
What I am looking for
Old shares, bonds, bills of exchange, mortgage bonds, documents, company prints, bills, photographs of old pre-war joint-stock companies, factories, industrial plants, mines, steelworks, tanneries, breweries, power plants, and banks. Old books, magazines, directories, catalogs, advertisements, leaflets, and other prints on economic topics, old documents, photographs, and literature related to Radom and the Radom region, and any memorabilia from old stone quarries and stone companies in Poland are also welcome.
Valuation and Historical Expertise
If you have old securities or other documents and would like to know their collectible value, please contact me. Among old shares, bonds, photos, and prints, there are many common and cheap issues, but there are also rare and sought-after specimens, whose value on the collectors' market can be high. A rough estimate or consultation is free of charge, phone 601 244 130, 48 385 3966 or please send photos to email: info@starepapiery.pl.
PLEASE NOTE: it is possible to meet even at your place of residence. If you are unable to sell the securities you have (e.g., a family heirloom), I am interested in borrowing them to make copies or digital scans.
