Goal of the project
As the Radom Branch of the Polish Electrical Society, we aim to honor the memory of Professor Włodzimierz Krukowski (1887-1941), born in Radom, and to popularize his ideals and contributions to the development of European electrical engineering. In 2017, on the 130th anniversary of Włodzimierz Krukowski's birth, we will publish a monograph about Professor Włodzimierz Krukowski and organize the III International Conference dedicated to Włodzimierz Krukowski and his scientific works. The conference will culminate in the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at his former residence in Radom and in Lviv.
We intend to invite representatives from academic institutions in Poland, Ukraine, Russia, and Germany to participate in the conference. Simultaneously, in the restored former building of the Radom Municipal Power Plant, a historical exhibition will be prepared, accompanied by a conference entitled "The Beginnings of Electrification of Polish Cities - The Radom Municipal Power Plant 1901-1956". A book about the history of the power plant and the lighting of the city of Radom will be published, along with a commemorative exhibition brochure. The organizers envision this project as a means to introduce the largely unknown history of the electrification of the city of Radom to a wider audience.
Our goal is to make this event a high-profile one with a strong impact, not only locally but also throughout the Masovian Voivodeship. We count on the participation of both regional and local authorities, and we plan to invite ambassadors from Russia, Germany, and Belgium – countries whose capital was involved in the construction and operation of the Radom Municipal Power Plant between 1901 and 1956 – as well as other prominent figures from the fields of science and cultural heritage.
We plan to unveil a commemorative plaque on the wall of the Mazovian Center for Contemporary Art "ELEKTROWNIA" in Radom, dedicated to the outstanding figures associated with the activities of the Radom Municipal Power Plant and the entire Polish power industry in the first half of the 20th century, namely: director Witold Idźkowski, director Franciszek Bilek, and director Aleksander Chądzyński, who were also distinguished members of the Polish Electrical Society.
